Hello Brother!

So on Thursday I get a phone call from my brother that he will be coming into town. In about 5 hours. Our family has always had problems with giving proper notice. When I was a kid we would decide where we were going on vacations about 3 weeks before we left. I ran home, 2 hours of cleaning, a stop at Matt's Bday celebration and then off to pick him up from the airport. I didn't get to see him a lot the last time I was in IL for Xmas and he has never vistited me since I was a senior in college so I was pretty excited!


Lunch, drinks, softball practice (yes in that order- I was in the outfield and actually did better than usual considering usually I hide from the ball), a cookout and fun evening outside in the yard!


Unfortunately V was in the field collecting fishes so missed the fun. Luckily I got some practice with the grill so I am ready to make yummy meals for the rest of the summer!!

He had to beat the weather in the south so Saturday afternoon I took a ton of photos of him and his plane! He works for a company that gets contacts to fly these grids and take pictures of the groud. He has this cool computer in his plane that maps out the areas and then they put the pics together into huge arial maps like for GoogleEarth and stuff! It was really good to see him and I am really glad he got to see my house, pets, and lab. Hopefully he will be able to come back through again soon!

V home from collecting, Chinese food, rum and coke, 24, and a day at work that makes me not worry too much about the state of my dissertation. It is a very good evening....

Knitting news: The baby blanket is almost done and I ran out of yarn. Hopefully it will be finished tomorrow night. Amandamonkey is my new sock pal. Or new sock life support system. I need a good first sock pattern. Socks scare the crap out of me! Any suggestions??

Baseball is back again.

AND SO IS KNITTY!!!! I can't wait to make me some Nauties! I am making good progress on the baby blanket and can't wait to be done with it. Maybe I'll finish my Branching Out then. The DNA Scarf? I guess it is warm out so no big rush on that one! Some fun little lacy things for my house? just wait and see!

Oh dear. A GRAND SLAM by a Cub. Let's get back to the baseball. I am incapable is remembering the names of baseball players. Two years ago there were two corn fed type boys on the Cubs. Hornswaggle and Farnswaggle (real names coutesy of V: Farnsworth and Hollandsworth). My favorite player is Hernando Fernandez (real name: either Aramais Rameriz OR Alex Gonzolas-no longer a Cub). I think Derek Lee is really Cory Patterson (no longer a Cub). The only new guys are Jacques Jones and Juan Pierre. The shall meld into a fantasticly named Jacques Pierre. Wish me luck with my sanity- we are only in the first week of games.

It may not have been the Best. Day. Ever. But has to be one of the best ones lately!

how long can I wait?

I love Knitty. I really do. I loved lots of things from the winter issue. It is always filled with such whimsy, easy to do projects for knitters like me and beautiful pieces that I can aspire to do someday... For now, everyday (sometimes twice) I check if the spring issue is out. I thought it might come out on March 21st. Then April 1st. Now I keep checking....Oh Knitty how I miss you and look forward to your next installment.


In other news....did you see the military plane crash in Delaware? The one less than half a mile from my field site? I am glad everyone is ok and I really hope I can get access to my fish in two weeks!
